Chennai-My first visit to South India

Never think of visiting southern part of India but after joining Cognizant got a chance to go to Chennai ,the capital of Tamil Nadu, on 01072012.for IT training on Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure.

It was Sunday of 1st July when office cab took me upto Dum Dum domestic airport. We had flight from Kolkata to Chennai which was departed @ 1815PM. Me and my another colleague Mr. Mithun Debnath reached in Chennai @ 2030PM. Thanks to Indigo Airlines that we reached before arrival time. Our respective cab drivers received us @ Kamraj Domestic Airport. We faced problem in communication with cab drivers as they were unable to speak in Hindi and I didn't expect better English from them.Although we managed to make them understand about our destination i.e. Shem Park guest house at Chemmenchery in Chennai.

We reached guest house after almost 1 hour journey in cab. Guest house was full furnished and living room was Air Conditioned.I slept early as I didn't want to reach late in our first day.We reached at right time but training started late @ 1130AM due to PC problem. Trainer named Sundar was very energetic and passionate about giving training.

In five days, I got a chance to visit World's 2nd longest beach i.e. Marina beach. After finishing the class, we took local bus and met Mithun's CTS friend. We three took another bus and reached Marina beach after long journey of 90 minutes. I didn't enjoyed as we reached the beach at nite.Next day we tried to visit T Nagar also but due to communication problem we cancelled the plan.On last day, office cab dropped us @ Kamraj Airport and by Indigo flight, we returned back to Kolkata on Friday 6th July.

People of Chennai are simple in outlook and girls and women wear traditional and simple clothes. Youths are not flowing with latest fashion trends.I liked the South Indian foods.Employees prefer office buses as mode of transportation and thereby there is less traffic in the OMR road and IT high way.
